BARK Email Design

BARK is a dog-obsessed company creating unique, high-quality toys and treats. I designed over 100 emails—from transactional updates to promos, welcome flows, and product launches that proved to drive sales and guide customers throughout their journey.

BarkShop Abandoned Cart Series

In this series, we used bright, visually engaging graphics, playful storytelling and escalating incentives to re-engage users. The first email grabs attention with a funny visual and a friendly reminder to return. The second adds urgency with a time-sensitive 20% discount and a visual of dogs chasing the offer by land and sea. The third appeals to empathy by highlighting the charitable impact of their purchase—5% of proceeds help dogs in need through the Bark for Good program. The final message reinforces the discount and creates urgency with a 24-hour deadline. Each email is clear and easy to act on without being pushy, guiding users back to their cart with minimal friction.

BarkBox Abandoned Cart Emails

Designed to mimic a shopping cart, this email aims to reengage first-time subscribers by reinforcing benefits and value, using clear hierarchy, bold visuals, and playful UI. The second version personalizes the cart with the user’s dog’s name, adding emotional appeal without disrupting flow.

BarkShop Holiday-themed Emails

Halloween CBD Education & Promo (above, top left): This email uses humor and empathy to connect with dog owners during Halloween to promote CBD-based products. The visuals and messaging reframe the holiday from a dog’s point of view, highlighting doorbells and costumes as common triggers for anxiety. An animation of a spooked dog in the window reinforces the message, drawing attention without distracting from it.

Halloween Last Call (above, top right): Ghost dog animation reminding customers to place their Halloween orders before it’s too late.

Halloween Bundles (above, bottom left): Animated email teasing Halloween-themed toy and treat bundles.

New Year’s Eve CBD Education & Promo (above, bottom right): This New Year’s Eve email takes a more soothing tone than the Halloween version, emphasizing calm over chaos. While it still educates and builds empathy, the animation of a dog sleeping peacefully during a fireworks show reinforces the benefit of CBD, instead of the stressor. It makes a subtle promise that, with the right support, your dog can rest easy—even on the loudest nights of the year.

BarkShop National Dog Day Campaign

This National Dog Day email uses design to create an emotional connection. Clear hierarchy and bold type make the offer and CTA easy to scan, while the joyful dog photos and illustrations, along with editorialized copy, spark a sense of delight. The playful visuals tap into the reader’s love for their pup to turn a promo into a moment of shared celebration.

BarkShop Multi-part Toys

I leaned into the takeout theme by styling product titles like menu items, using leader dots to connect names to prices and organizing toys into a playful three-course format inspired by NYC Chinese takeout menus. Brand illustrations, a red and black color scheme, and menu-style sections brought the concept to life while staying on-brand. Customers responded well to this email, and it was reused multiple times.
